Understanding Field Names, Labels, and Types

There are two key components for every field that is created using the Salesforce.com application:

• Field Label – The text label which displays on the UI in the application. A field's label can be freely changed.
• Field Name – The name of the field. Altering a field's name may break integrations with external systems. Additionally, any field with the _vod suffix in its name should not be renamed.

There are four types of fields in Veeva CRM

• Salesforce.com Standard Fields
• Veeva CRM Standard Fields
• Veeva CRM Marker Fields
• Custom Fields
