Capturing Product Discussions on the Call Report

Product discussions enable the user to further classify what types of discussions or indications were covered with respect to each product detailed in a call. While product detailing enables users to capture which products were detailed in a call, it does not allow any additional information about product discussions during the call. The product discussions section fulfills this need by enabling users to capture additional information on general comments, discussion topics, and product indications.
For example, Sarah Jones discusses the indications for Cholecap and Restolar with Dr. Ackerman. In the Product Discussions section of the call report, she selects Cholecap and Restolar, then selects the appropriate indications and any relevant discussion topics, presentations, or slides.
Ensure initial configuration is complete to use this functionality.
A sub-section displays in the Product Discussion section for each product selected in the Product Priority section. Users can add, copy, or delete sub-sections using the buttons provided. The fields shown in each product discussion sub-section are based on the page layouts in the Call2_Discussion_vod object. Only fields in the Information_vod section of the page layout display on the call report. Product discussions are stored in a custom object called Call2_Discussion_vod.
The Information_vod section title should never be translated.
Defining Discussion Section Layouts By Call Record Type
The fields displayed in each product discussion section can be dependent on the record type of the call, so only the most relevant fields display to each set of users. In addition, admins can create multiple layouts for each record type and, through page layout assignment, assign these layouts to different user profiles. This enables the call report to display different fields to different sets of users for the same call record type.
Creating Call Record Types for Discussion Section Layouts
To associate product discussion section layouts with call record types, create record types on the Call2_Discussion_vod object that have the same exact names as the record types on the Call2_vod object. When a user creates a call with a specific record type, the layout used for the product discussion section is the layout associated to the record type in the Call2_Discussion_vod object with the same name.
