Territory Assignment

For users to view and create calls for an account, they must have an alignment to the account. For the Network integration, there must also be an assignment to a Territory. Territory Assignment occurs when:

  • User searches for an account outside of their territory and requests for the Account to be added to their territory
  • User Submits a new Account Data Change Request (DCR), and the DCR is approved by Network

Territory Selection

Territory selection is configured in one of three ways when a user requests an assignment from Network Accounts:

  • Automatically assigned to the first territory that is returned from the list of user's territories. This list includes child territories and is sorted alphanumerically.
  • Automatically assign All territories to the Account
  • Allow User to choose which territories via a multi-select

If the territory field is disabled, the territory value is automatically determined using the first or second option depending on configuration settings displayed in the table below.

ATL Assignments

Users are able to perform regular scheduling and planning activities against Accounts that are manually assigned based on the territory assignment process.  These assignments are written to the Account Territory Loader object.  This object is a utility for modifying territory assignments in the Account Share.  The User must have read/write access to the Account Territory Loader object in order to write territory assignments.  See Territory Management for more information.

As part of the search before create process, the territory assignment to the Account Territory Loader is traceable via a new field called NAW_Alignment_vod.  This field refers to all assignments that originated from the Network Account Search.  The customer is responsible for maintaining these assignments correctly.

If using rules based assignments at the same time as using the Account Territory Loader, assignments may become out of sync in the Account Share. Veeva recommends regularly maintaining the NAW_Alignment_vod assignments by adjusting the assignment rules.  This is also true for any direct assignments to the Account Share object.
