Managing Documents and Attachments Offline

  • iPad

Users can upload image and document attachments to records where attachments are enabled, including via Notes & Attachments related lists. Users can also update attachment descriptions or delete attachments.

Windows and inventory monitoring records only support image attachments.

The following areas support Notes & Attachments related lists:

  • Contracts/Contract Partners
  • Medical Events
  • Coaching Reports
  • Calls
  • Accounts
  • Orders
  • Medical Inquiries

Configuring Image Quality

To determine the quality of image attachments, admins can set the PHOTO_QUALITY_vod Veeva Setting to one of the following values:

  • 0 = disabled (default)
  • 1 = low quality images
  • 2 = medium quality images
  • 3 = high quality

Disabling the Camera Roll

To disable photo attachments, admins can enter the value 1 in the Camera_Roll_vod Veeva Setting. The default value is 0.

Uploading Attachments

When adding an attachment, users can select Upload Photo to attach a photo from their photo library or Upload File to attach a document. Additionally, an informative error message displays when a file cannot be saved. Depending on the error, one of the following Veeva Messages displays the appropriate message:

  • UPLOAD_FILE_CONNECTION_ERROR
  • UPLOAD_FILE_SIZE_ERROR
  • UPLOAD_FILE_TYPE_ERROR

The default attachment size limit is 35MB, but customers can request an increase up to 65MB from Salesforce. Though users can upload attachments up to 65MB online, the maximum attachment size supported on offline devices is 35MB.

Photos captured within CRM are stored in the local CRM database and are not available in the user’s Camera Roll or Albums. Photos are deleted from the local database after they are successfully uploaded online via sync in order to save local storage. After syncing, the photos are available on-demand by returning to the record and downloading the images from the edit page or the Notes & Attachments related list.

Veeva CRM does not support the use of the iCloud Photos Optimize iPad Storage Setting. Users should select Download and Keep Originals.

If the Don’t allow HTML uploads as attachments or document records Salesforce security setting is enabled, the following document types cannot be uploaded:

  • .htm
  • .html
  • .htt
  • .htx
  • .mhtm
  • .mhtml
  • .shtm
  • .shtml
  • .acgi
  • .svg
