Release notes are available one week before sandbox upgrades.

The following are definitions of the various releases:

  • Major Release - The Major Release includes validation for new functionality released in Minor Releases in addition to new functionality, product enhancements, and fixes to existing functionality. Major Releases are released to customer sandboxes two weeks prior to the production release.
  • Minor Release - This release includes critical new functionality, product enhancements, and fixes to existing functionality. New functionality introduced in a Minor Release is validated with the next Major Release. Minor Releases are released to customer sandboxes one week prior to the production release.
  • Maintenance Release – This is a planned release containing only defect fixes or issues affecting customers. Both Sandbox and Production orgs are updated at the same time for a Maintenance Release.
  • Hotfix - This is an unplanned release typically containing a small number of fixes or issues affecting customers. Both Sandbox and Production orgs are updated at the same time for a Hotfix.
  • System Maintenance - This is scheduled downtime for system infrastructure changes like server restarts. Veeva CRM does not have a regular schedule for system maintenance but communicates prior to the downtime if service disruptions do not occur.

About Upgrades

Online users can view their orgs as read-only during the upgrade. Offline CRM users are not affected during upgrades, but can not sync while an upgrade is in progress. Offline users who installed Veeva CRM from the homepage tile in Salesforce are prompted to upgrade at the conclusion of their sync session. If the user decides to skip the install process, an Update Now button displays.
