Admins can define a Suggested Retail Price for products that can be used to calculate profit based on order quantity. The profit calculation is performed in real time during order entry based on the user's input, pricing rules, and the Suggested Retail Price. Profit can be calculated for individual order lines and Total Orders. Access to additional information when capturing an order can help users sell products.

The Suggested Retail Price is the suggested price that a pharmacist can charge consumers for the product. A Profit Calculator allows users to run "what-if" scenarios based on the Suggested Retail Price and discounts to show a profit for a product that a pharmacy can potentially realize.

Configuring Suggested Retail Price with Profit Calculator

Prerequisites

  • Order Management initial configuration is complete
  • Product Kits are enabled, if using kits with this feature

To enable Suggested Retail Price: 

  1. Create a List Price rule
  2. Ensure the Product has a pre-defined value for the Suggested Retail Price field or that the user can override the value.
  3. Grant FLS read permission to the Suggested_Retail_Price_vod field on the Pricing_Rule_vod object.
  4. Grant FLS read permission to the Suggested_Retail_Price_Rule_vod field on the Order_Lines_vod object.
  5. Grant FLS read permission to the Suggested_Retail_Price_vod field on the Order_Lines_vod object.
  6. Place the Suggested_Retail_Price_vod field on the appropriate Order_Lines_vod object page layout.

To enable the Profit Calculator:

  1. Ensure the Suggested_Retail_Price_Rule_vod field on the Order Lines object is configured with a value > 0.
  2. Grant FLS read permission to the Profit_vod field on the Order_Lines_vod object.
  3. Add the Profit_vod field to the appropriate Order_Lines_vod object page layout.
  4. Grant FLS read permission to the Order_Total_Profit_vod field on the Order_vod object.
  5. Add the Order_Total_Profit_vod field to the appropriate Order_vod page layout.

Using Suggested Retail Price with Profit Calculator

Users can override a pre-defined Suggested Retail Price at the time of the Order, based on permissions. The results display in the Order Total Profit field on the Order Header.

Users can use a Profit Calculator to create different pricing scenarios based on the Suggested Retail Price and discounts to further display profits. The formula for this is as follows: (Quantity + Free Goods) * Suggested Retail Price – Net Amount = Profit
