Inventory Monitoring Overview
The Inventory Monitoring module allows reps to collect information about product displays and inventory in pharmacies and other consumer outlets.
The rep can create new inventory monitoring records from the My Accounts list, Account Detail page, Inventory Monitoring related list, and call report. Like the Order Management window, the inventory window has two pages that are accessed via a segmented control in the toolbar. The Inventory Monitoring Header page displays the page layout of the Inventory Monitoring object and allows the user to enter general details.
The Inventory Monitoring Lines page allows the rep to add products and specify the details for each one. The page consist of a series of sliding panels that ensure quick access to search, lines item details, and product information.
When the user first accesses the inventory lines page, the search panel is in focus. The user is able to filter the list of products by product or by using the type-ahead search. The user adds products to the inventory by selecting one or more rows and tapping the Add Selected button. Selected line items display in the Inventory Monitoring Lines list on the right side of the page. A red exclamation point displays next to any line item that does not yet have details entered for it. This serves as a visual indicator to the rep while viewing the list.
The user can slide the Inventory Monitoring Lines list from right to left to display all the columns in the list. The width of the columns can be configured through the IM_INVENTORY_LINE_COLUMN_WIDTH_vod Veeva custom setting. The setting points to a Veeva message in the following format:
<FIELD_API_NAME>:<PIXELS>[,<FIELD_API_NAME>:<PIXELS> …]
To enter inventory line details, tap a row in the list to show the inventory entry panel. The panel shows the configured fields displayed on the left half and the entry control for the selected field on the right half. The user can tap the previous and next buttons in the lower right to navigate through the list. The rep can also tap on the product name to view more detailed information for the selected product.
To create a duplicate line item, tap add record button to the left of the product name. A duplicate row displays below the original. To delete a row, tap and hold the row to be deleted and a red delete icon will display to the left of the product name.
Inventory Monitoring for All Product Types
Veeva CRM allows customers to capture Inventory Monitoring information on product types most relevant for their business, including Order and Detail products. This removes the need to create a separate product type for Inventory Monitoring products.
The Product Catalog (Product_vod object) now has a new check box field, Inventory_Monitoring_vod allowing the product to be available for Inventory Monitoring.
If a product is not in the user’s My Setup, but is flagged as being available for Inventory Monitoring in the Product Catalog, it is not visible to the user.
To enable Product types for Inventory Monitoring, provide FLS to the Inventory_Monitoring_vod field on the Product_vod object and add the field to the Product Catalog page layout. Appropriate users must have permission to create Inventory Monitoring records and have access to the Product Catalog.
Autosync Inventory Monitoring
To help customers maintain up-to-date information regarding Inventory, Veeva CRM allows users to sync Inventory Monitoring records immediately when Submitting when there is a valid internet connection. If the user is offline, the records sync the next time an Auto-Send is triggered or a manual sync, whichever comes first. If an Inventory Monitoring has an offline created attachment (such as a captured photo), that attachment is not uploaded as part of the auto sync due to upload bandwidth considerations. This feature is enabled by default.
Accounts associated with an Inventory Monitoring record must exist online. If an Inventory Monitoring record is created from a Call, the Call must exist on the server.
Mobile Synchronization
Inventory Monitoring and Inventory Monitoring Lines objects are synchronized as a single unit, similar to Orders. Users have the ability to Unlock and Edit a record from the Errors page to fix an issue when there is a validation error.
